Duchess of Edinburgh Meets Patients at New Eye Care Unit in St. John’s
The royal visitor met people whose sight was recently restored and healthcare teams working to expand access to eye care in Antigua and Barbuda.
Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh visited the new primary eye care unit in St. John’s, meeting patients who recently had their sight restored and professionals helping to make treatment more accessible in Antigua and Barbuda.
Welcomed by the Cure Blindness Project, the Duchess spent time with several patients, as well as nurses, ophthalmologists and leaders supporting the delivery of eye care services.
The visit highlighted both the patients benefiting from treatment and the work of healthcare teams seeking to bring quality eye care within reach of more people across the twin-island nation.
The Cure Blindness Project said it was honoured to welcome the Duchess to the new facility and recognised those contributing to its goal of improving access to care for all.
