A three-year-old girl is among two people killed in a devastating collision along Pares Main Road on Monday night, leaving two other occupants injured.

The deceased have been identified as 36-year-old Sherwin Harding of Skerritts Pasture and three-year-old Janae Browne. Both sustained fatal injuries in the crash, which occurred at approximately 7:50 p.m. in the vicinity of Welch Supermarket.

According to police, the collision involved a grey Toyota Vitz driven by Harding, which was travelling from east to west along Pares Main Road.

Preliminary reports indicate that the driver attempted to overtake another vehicle but encountered an oncoming vehicle during the manoeuvre. In an effort to avoid a head-on collision, he reportedly attempted to return to his lane but lost control of the car.

The vehicle subsequently collided with a fence and wall along the southern side of the road before spinning and coming to rest on the roadway.

Harding and Janae Browne were pronounced dead at the scene by a medical doctor.

Two other occupants, identified as Rashima Moore and three-year-old Jahcari Browne, were transported by Emergency Medical Services to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where they received medical treatment. Both are reportedly in stable condition.

The Police Administration has extended condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased while wishing the injured passengers a full and speedy recovery.

Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision and have renewed their appeal for motorists to exercise extreme caution on the nation's roads.

Drivers are being urged to observe speed limits, avoid dangerous overtaking manoeuvres and exercise due care and attention at all times.
