“This loss is simply too painful for words.”

Those were the opening words of an emotional tribute written by Minister of Works Maria Browne as she mourned the death of Sherwin Harding, who was killed in Monday evening’s fatal traffic collision on Pares Main Road.

Harding, a former employee of the Ministry of Works, died on Monday, November 2, after sustaining fatal injuries in a crash involving a grey Toyota Vitz, which he was driving. Three-year-old Janae Browne also lost her life in the collision.

Two other occupants of the vehicle, Rashima Moore and three-year-old Jahcari Browne, were transported by Emergency Medical Services to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where they received medical treatment. Both are reportedly in stable condition.

In her tribute, Browne remembered Harding as more than a political comrade, describing him as a friend and someone whose support had been unwavering, particularly during times of need.

“I am deeply saddened by the tragic passing of my comrade and friend, Sherwin Harding. To lose someone in such heartbreaking circumstances is a tragedy that is difficult to comprehend,” she wrote.

She added that Harding's presence and friendship would be deeply missed.

“Sherwin was a comrade, a friend, an unwavering support especially in times of need.”

Browne extended condolences on behalf of ABLP St. John's Rural East, the Ministry of Works and herself to Harding's family, friends, colleagues and everyone whose life he touched.

She also offered prayers for those grieving, asking God to grant them the strength and comfort needed to navigate what she described as an unimaginable loss.

“May God grant strength and comfort to all who mourn this unimaginable loss, and may Sherwin rest in eternal peace,” Browne said.

She ended her message with a deeply personal farewell to her friend: “Until we meet again, my friend.”
