This decision, enacted following the next Parliamentary sitting, aims to compensate for the wear and tear these vehicles cause to the roadways.

The funds generated from this fee increase are expected to leverage a loan from various banks, which will be used for extensive road repairs nationwide.

This new initiative is designed to function similarly to existing dedicated funds such as the Board of Education Levy, which supports educational resources, and the statutory obligations paid to the Medical Benefits Scheme (MBS) to enhance healthcare services.

The Cabinet affirmed its commitment to eliminating complaints regarding potholes and poor road surfaces, ensuring a smoother travel experience for residents and visitors.

It is not heavy vehicle equipment alone. The poor construction of the roads without proper road drainage is also another big problem towards the deterioration of our roads.
