“Work has been proceeding steadily”.

This was the response given by Chief of Staff in the Prime Minister’s Office Lionel Hurst about the transformation of the Kingdom Hall facility in Seaview Farm into the new mental health institution.

According to Hurst, repairs are ongoing on the inside to retrofit the building.

Government acquired the building late last year revealing plans to enhance mental health care in the country. A cry that has been reiterated by many experts, advocates and residents in the country.

Plans for the facility include the renovation of Clarevue Hospital, followed by the subsequent relocation of patients with severe conditions to the St Johnston’s Village facility.

The Sea View Farm location will focus on providing short-term care to patients who are in recovery, preparing to return to normal life.

A further update, he mentioned, would be given in the future.

There should be a complete cleansing of that place before the mentally challenged people can move into there. I have my reasons for saying that.
