Shaveesa Gasper is filled with joy and gratitude as she embarks on a new journey back home, and her heartfelt appreciation is directed towards the Office of Prime Minister Gaston Browne, British High Commissioner Karen Mae Hill, and all those who played a vital role in her remarkable achievement.

The government announced on Thursday that Shaveesa, a proud graduate of the Edna Manley School of Performing Arts, will be joining the Ministry of the Creative Industries as a lecturer, among other responsibilities.

“I’m absolutely thrilled and deeply grateful for this incredible opportunity!” she shared in an interview with Antigua.news.

“A heartfelt thank you to the Office of the Prime Minister, British High Commissioner Karen Mae Hill, Senator Shenella Govia, and the Board of Education for granting me the privilege to attend the esteemed Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in Jamaica, W.I. Your support has been instrumental in making this dream a reality.”

Shaveesa’s journey has not been an easy one. After suffering burns over 65% of her body in 2016 and undergoing life-saving surgery in Martinique and France, she faced immense challenges.

Yet, her spirit remained unbroken, and her determination unwavering. “I also want to express my sincere gratitude to my loved ones and friends for their unwavering encouragement throughout this journey—it truly means the world to me,” she added, reflecting on the power of support and love in overcoming adversity.

As Shaveesa steps into this exciting new chapter, she is eager to impart her knowledge through drama instruction and to create engaging workshops and seminars that inspire others.

“I look forward to a future that dims the past and brings hope and creativity to our community,” she said, embodying resilience and the belief that dreams can come true, no matter the obstacles.

Shaveesa Gasper is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and a source of inspiration for many. Her journey reminds us that even in the face of hardship, with support and determination, we can rise and shine brightly.
