A local supermarket in Antigua and Barbuda is complaining about a group of students, predominantly boys, from a well-known secondary school who are reportedly engaging in deceitful behavior to avoid attending classes.
Witnesses have observed that these students enter the supermarket dressed in their school uniforms, only to swiftly change into casual clothes right under the noses of unsuspecting staff and customers. The boys have been brazenly walking into the store, claiming they need to use the restroom, only to emerge moments later in completely different attire.
The supermarket’s management is alarmed by the situation, highlighting concerns about the impact on their business and the irresponsible actions of the students. This troubling trend raises questions about school discipline and the lengths to which some students will go to evade their educational responsibilities.
Parents, educators, and community members are urged to address this issue and find solutions to ensure that students attend school and respect their commitments. The incident has sparked a debate on the necessity of monitoring and enforcing attendance in schools, as well as the role that local businesses play in upholding community standards.
As the story continues to develop, it serves as a pressing reminder of the challenges faced in maintaining a healthy educational environment and the importance of accountability among students.
Lots of taxpayers ‘ money wasted annually on undeserving youngsters. Indeed; youth is wasted on the young.
Another wake up call to MOE officials from the Clare Browe, the comical director of Education, to the over-bloated MOE education officers. Probably the worst performing of althea Ministries!
So wah mek Antigua.news not naming the supermarket? Them kids have tricks. So no security at the supermarket to stop them from entering there?
This shit is sad but true… however I blame the parents and the school aswell….
@the teachers days pass n u dont see ur students and no one calls the parents?
@the parents none of u are not seeing the change in ur son, does parents still ask their children I’d they hve homework?
I remember coming from school, high school at that and my parents would be waiting to ask this one ? Hey u hve homework?
What is so secretive about naming the establishment. Why do they not want to be known to the public???? Unless they want the students to continue doing what they doing. Also the school these boys attend should be notified. Stop treating these boys with kid gloves
I heard it’s Perry Bay. That’s where all the Greenbay little thugs go and change uniform in bathrooms. Nuff said. If I wrong tell me
Both the school and the parents should have a roll to pay…. You mean to tell me, parents are not concerned about the things their kids are doing in school? A child come home and you don’t care to ask them about school? Even search their bags….. then the school….. a child don’t come to school for a few days, you should reach out to the parents…….
But some children say they have homework and pretend they go into their books and does homework. So these teenage boys are sneaky.
Spear the rod and spoil the child. The way I was raised all my mother had to do was give me that look and I knew what time it was. These days them children steering you in your face and disrespect you. No respect or regard for others and their properties
