Michael Freeland
Members of the Northside community group are throwing their support behind Michael Freeland, one of the four candidates vying for the ABLP caretaker position in St. George’s.
One of the members of the group who wished to remain anonymous told this newsroom that several factors led to his transition from an avid UPP supporter to a fan of Freeland.
Several others have followed suit as well.
The biggest reason being the lack of action from the present MP Algernon ‘Serpant’ Watts and the efforts and enthusiasm of young Freeland.
“There are a lot of persons who converted over just because Michael Freeland is running. He is an action man. I remember reaching out to the present MP telling him about the sports facility and I am in tune to Parliament every time and up to now I haven’t heard this man advocating. He kind of turned me off for that but I would have never thought I would have given ABLP a chance but from time Mr. Freeland joined the race, I am not voting for the party, I am voting for the individual who I know can perform.
“We spoke to him about the sports facility in our area and he came right away and told us our plans. We mentioned about some senior citizens, he jumped on that too. He is a action man. He is not waiting on the government to give him the funds to get it done and he already started fixing roads without government’s assistance. People like that are who we want. There’s so much he has done in his own capacity then what will happen when he gets the party backing behind of it? We know our community will get a lot of progress,” the member said.
The call has been made by this group for others to come and support Freeland.
The sports administrator and entrepreneur will vie against former senator Bakisha Francis, media personality Joel Rayne and entrepreneur Salim Browne in a race many are considering to be one of the tightest thus far with registration increasing in the past weeks.
The Primary will take place today with voting starting at 4pm and ending four hours later. Counting will take place after. A total of 1611 persons are eligible to vote.
I don’t see him winning but he is ‘connected’ so me nah surprised if he does. Joel Rayne looks good but connections will prevail!
So because he uses his own money to solve community matters, that means he is the right person to represent the people in Parliament?… chuptz
Whoever wins the position must do a good job
