Festivals Commission Launches Initiative to Nurture Young Calypso and Soca Talent

Key program components include:

School visits to identify talented young singers
Private vocal and performance training
Mentorship from established artists
Community performances
Preparation for Junior Calypso Monarch and Junior Soca Monarch competitions

 

Tyreke “Vicious” Lewis, an internationally recognized Soca artist, emphasized the program’s broader impact: “Music has the power to shape lives, build character, and connect us to our roots.”

As part of its commitment to the program’s success, the ABFC has made two significant appointments. Peetron Thomas has been officially appointed to the Junior Calypso Monarch subcommittee, while Tyreke “Vicious” Lewis has been appointed to the Junior Party Monarch subcommittee.
