Over the weekend, the dedicated team at Antigua.news undertook a heartwarming initiative by distributing over 75 carefully curated school bags to students from different corners of the island.

These school bags were not mere containers but packed with an assortment of essential items, such as pencils, pens, erasers, sharpeners, rulers, raincoats, insulated bottles, umbrellas, snack bags, geometry sets, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other personal items.

This generous gesture to support the community was made possible through the unwavering support of Ambassador Dr. Dario Item in collaboration with the Honorary Consul of Antigua and Barbuda in the Principality of Monaco, Dr. Marco Garavaglia.

Dr. Item, along with Thierry Dell’Orto, a professor in Southern Switzerland, took the time to visit some of the students personally and shared meaningful moments with them, showcasing their genuine care and commitment to the cause.

Dr. Item has been a steadfast supporter of back-to-school initiatives over the past several years, and this year, he is partnering with Antigua.news to make a significant impact.

In expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to provide these essential items just before the commencement of the school year, Dr. Item emphasized that Antigua. News is not just a news portal but a closely-knit community.

Through this thoughtful gesture, the team aimed to demonstrate a robust commitment to supporting education and the overall well-being of the community’s young people

Education, as Dr. Item highlighted, is the indispensable pathway to breaking the barriers of poverty in any society.

Additionally, the invaluable support of Dr. Marco Garavaglia, the Honorary Consul, played a pivotal role in the success of the project, even though he was unable to personally attend the distribution due to prior commitments at the consulate.

In a phone conversation, he expressed his pride in contributing to the happiness of Antigua’s schoolchildren.

He also reaffirmed his unwavering dedication to economic development, tourism, and international relations and wished all the children a fulfilling school year.

Looking ahead, Antigua.news has announced its plans to continue its support by distributing hundreds of water bottles to students across the island in the coming days.
