The Eastern Caribbean Amalgamated Bank contributed $2500.00 to the West Indies Sail Heritage Foundation on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.
The donation will help the non-profit organization cover the operational costs of its Ocean Love, NO Plastic, NO Waste Program.
The Ocean Love, NO Plastic, NO Waste Program is a comprehensive initiative that educates children about the importance of our oceans, keeping them clean, and the importance of recycling.
The Foundation operates an upcycling workshop where plastic bottle caps are repurposed.
ECAB’s marketing team toured the upcycling facility in Falmouth and was impressed by the creative use of Oasis bottle caps to produce plant pots of various sizes and styles as well as a beach chair.
The Eastern Caribbean Amalgamated Bank’s Marketing & Communications Officer, Jessica Russell said, “The West Indies Sail Heritage Foundation is doing great work. We want to ensure they
continue to operate this workshop, demonstrating how repurposing items can not only reduce our environmental impact but also result in the creation of beautiful and functional products.
Co- founder of the West Indies Sail Heritage Foundation, Billy Gernertt, and the Foundation’s Chief Marketing Officer, Annabelle Reynolds- Mannix accepted the donation. Mr. Gernertt said, “We are thankful for this contribution and hope we can build a closer relationship with ECAB.”
This donation by ECAB is one of many initiatives the bank has sponsored as it aims to build stronger communities across the island.
Great! We ne more local initiative like this one!
