23 Cruise Ships Heading to Sister Ilse for New Season
Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism industry is gearing up for a groundbreaking year. Antigua Cruise Port revealed that 23 cruise ships will visit the sister island during the 2024-2025 cruise tourism season.
This exciting announcement was made at the Antigua Cruise Connect Conference, where key stakeholders gathered to discuss growth opportunities and strategies for the upcoming season.
The Operations Manager at Antigua Cruise Port, Rawles Reynolds, highlighted a significant development for Barbuda: The number of cruise ships visiting the island is expected to increase substantially.
This marks a remarkable shift from the previous average of one or two ships per season to 23 ships for the upcoming season.
Barbuda is expected to attract a significant number of cruise calls, with an estimated 5,000 passengers set to visit the sister isle.
Reynolds emphasized that these visitors are predominantly seeking luxurious and isolated experiences, viewing Barbuda as a private island getaway.
In addition to Barbuda’s impressive prospects, Antigua’s two cruise ports, Falmouth and Heritage Quay, are also expecting substantial activity. There will be 58 and 351 cruise calls, respectively, totaling 432 calls for the season.
Antigua Cruise Port further announced record-breaking growth for the 2023-2024 season, with an anticipated 7.5% increase in passenger volume from the previous year, totaling 811,931 passengers across 425 calls.
