The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the Department of Environment, and the Ashley Lashley Foundation, has partnered to host the EcoFit Project, an initiative focused on promoting physical fitness, nutrition, and climate change awareness.
The project is composed of four main aspect. First, a summer camp was held earlier in the year, engaging children in activities that emphasized the importance of physical health and environmental responsibility.
Additionally, the project includes a weekly radio show on ABS, airing every Thursday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM starting on October 10th, 2024, sponsored by FLOW. The show will highlight various topics related to fitness, nutrition, and climate change.
A climate change competition for schools is also part of the initiative, with the winning schools receiving a beautification prize sponsored by Harris Paints. Finally, the project includes a data collection and nutritional screening component aimed at assessing the health of the children.
This program specifically targets children between the ages of 7 to 11 years old, with the goal of educating them on the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle while being aware of the environmental challenges posed by climate change.
