Two Customs brokers will have to wait until next year to learn if their latest fraud charges will be elevated to the High Court.
This set of allegations are the latest to be added to multiple cases already advancing through the legal system.
The accused, Rowan Matthew of Judge’s Hill Estate and Foston George of Pares Village, face charges stemming from alleged Customs scams in 2017.
Prosecutors claim the pair exploited government duty-free concession codes to evade taxes while pocketing clients’ payments.
The latest charges are similar to those in their other matters. They include two counts each of cheating public revenue, making false declarations, electronic forgery, and conspiracy to defraud, amounting to fraud of nearly $31,000.
The committal hearing was recently adjourned until January 21.
