National Food Fair to take place outside of Sir Viv Stadium

Unlike past years when the Independence Food Fair took place in the parking lot of the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium, the highly anticipated will now move to the outskirts.

Sherrie Ann Catton, member of the Committee explained that this is due to the hosting of ICC cricket matches at that time.

“Because of the move vendors are not too welcome to the change. Change can be a good thing, and we foresee that it will be a good thing this year as long as everybody just participates and we work as a team,” Catton said.

One of the many complaints about the food fair is that patrons had a tough time finding their favorite vendors stalls. According to Catton, not only will an information booth be set up, but on November 1st, a new app will be launched to assist in that.

The app is the brainchild of Kwesi ‘DJ Crutches’ Jarvis.

Vendors will meet today with the organizers to pick their stall numbers.

Another new feature is the Kid Zone which will now be an area by itself.

“We had asked a vendor from the kid zone to have something like a daycare set up so persons can register the child, leave the child under supervision and the parents are free to walk around. The kid zone is what we are putting on the grass area as soon as you enter the stadium on the right-hand side,” Catton explained.

Food fair will run from 8 am-10 pm on Independence Day.

Maybe in the future you might want to consider the Rising Sun Grounds – spacious, central, not a magnet for traffic accidents, accessible to ALL.

The kids zone should require parents to use id bracelets when they leave their children so we will be sure they pick up the right children

So people complaining, what’s new? Rising Sun, probably a good idea. If we clean up the whole area properly including Victiria Park, people coukd eat in the botanical gardens.

Kid zone good idea. Please have the parents or guardians show ID upon registerng and picking up of children.

Also be certain that your staff are trained and are child friendly with no criminal records Good initiative.
