A Factory Road resident has become the second person to face charges in connection with alleged box hand fraud, as local authorities continue their investigation into informal banking schemes.
Latest Court Appearance
Tricia Webb, 44, appeared before Magistrate Dexter Wason yesterday on fraud-related charges. She was granted bail after being accused of fraudulently converting $7,000 to her own use between January 13 and September 14, 2024. The funds were allegedly entrusted to her as part of a box hand arrangement.
Webb, who was arrested on Tuesday, is scheduled to appear for her committal hearing on January 13.
Previous Related Case
This case follows another recent box hand fraud investigation. Earlier this month, 21-year-old Keithesha Edwards of Belmont was charged in a separate case involving approximately $70,000. Edwards has been released on bail and awaits her committal hearing.
Authorities have emphasized that the two cases are not connected, though both involve allegations of fraud within the informal banking system known as “box hand” arrangements.
Box hand schemes, while common in the community as informal savings arrangements, have come under increased scrutiny following these recent allegations of misappropriation.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate these matters as separate cases, highlighting the importance of due diligence in informal financial arrangements.
So where is this Belmont resident’s photo? . Crime is crime, yes , but this Belmontian is accused in a $70,000 fraud. Sick and tired of double standards at all levels of society in Antigua and Barbuda!.
