First ever female to win an election on an Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) is moving on after roughly 14 years in active politics.
Former St Mary’s South MP and Leader of Government Business in the Senate, Samantha Marshall told the state tv this week she is fully satisfied with her decision after 14 years.
‘I have done things that I am satisfied with and I have giving good service. Things that I can definitely look back on and say yes, I have made a difference, I happy I made an impact,” she said.
Marshall has served as Minister of Agriculture, Lands, Minister of Social Transformation, Leader of government business in the Senate.
She explained assisting the most vulnerable through the Ministry of Social Transformation brought her immense joy.
“Learning more and engaging more with the disabled. Empowering single mothers at the different levels and being able to carry the message that not because of their background,” Marshall said.
She also outlined her major accomplishments within the constituency namely the build out of the St Mary’s secondary school, a Fire tender and clinic in Bolans and a Fire Station and Police Substation in Johns Hughes as paramount as well as work done in the West Palm Beach area.
Marshall responsibility as Junior Minister within the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment now falls on the shoulders of Newly appointed Junior Minister and Senator Michael Joseph.
Senator Shenella Govia will assume her role as Leader of Government Business in the Senate.
