Food and rest on the minds of Team Antigua Island Girls as they approach the finish line

By Aabigayle McIntosh

Team Antigua Island Girls are now experiencing warmer days and cool nights as they inch nearer and nearer to the finish line in Hawaii.

They are among a number of teams in the Pacific Atlantic challenge which set off from the historic Harbour of Monterey in California, following the path of many adventures and explorers of yesteryear.

The finish line is the unique Hanalei Bay in Kauai Hawaii.

The team in their latest post said their vessel Dadli Gyal is gliding through the water on the strength of good wind, waves, and womanpower as they approach the finish line.

“We’re tired and pumped up at the same time, and we’re pretty certain that we’re going to erupt with elation at the sight of the Kauai coastline. We might just post,” they shared.

The minds of the three heroic females Christal Clashing, Samara Emanuel, and Kevinia Francis are also preoccupied with the thought of different food they would like to consume and spending days eating freeze-dry food, which they say is an acquired taste.

For Samara and Christal, the choice is clear, “nice, fat, juicy steaks (medium well) and French Fries.  Or maybe BBQ ribs. Or both”.

Kevinia, on the other hand, is thinking about fresh fruits such as mangoes, pineapple, grilled chicken breast, rice, or fries and veggies. Collectively coconut water for everyone.

What are we looking forward to Most? Sam wants to get off the bot and not see it again in a while, Kevinia; shower, sleep and a real toilet and Christal land, real food and recuperation.

The team also shared that watching the miles to finish dwindling is what keeps them going. They should be arriving in Hawaii sometime on Saturday.

The team is rowing for a cause—to establish a home for girls in conflict with the law.

This can be supported through donations at https://www.gofundme.com/…/team-antigua-island… and Caribbean Union Bank, Acct # 20004631, or call the support team at 268 736-6068.

“We also still have bills to pay, so we’re asking you please to rally with us these next few hundred miles and after,” the team said
