Police say senior officials are investigating the Dean Jonas incident

Four days after the situation that led to the arrest of former government minister Dean Jonas, the police have issued a statement, saying that senior officials are investigating the matter.

Jonas, the former gender affairs minister was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, making use of threatening language, and battery on police.

“On Thursday, February 23, the police went to the home of former minister Dean Jonas to make inquiries into a report that resulted in him being arrested and charged. The Police Administration is cognizance of the public’s reactions and concerns since the incident occurred, and wishes to inform the general public that this matter will be fully investigated by senior officials,” the police said in their statement issued Sunday.

The public is further reassured that the Police Force remains committed to providing the best professional policing services to the people of this nation, according to the police.
