Chief Health Inspector Sharon Martin says the Central Board of Health (CHB) will be putting measures in place to ensure more accountability after two employees were arrested and charged with theft.
On Wednesday, Cortwright Sly Josiah and Petroy Matthias; two Vector Control Officers employed at the CBH were charged with larceny and unlawful possession.
“Collectively we need to come together to plan and strategize how we are going forward to ensure we have persons more responsible and there is more accountability. We are going ensure what they get they sign off for and whatever remains they will return it to the office and they will sign off again,” Martin said.
They were allegedly caught stealing diesel. According to police reports, the fuel was intended for use in spraying locations across the country with stagnant water, to curtail the breeding of mosquitoes.
The police report stated that on Monday they executed a search warrant in Piggotts on the premise and the presence of Cortwright Sly Josiah age 62 of Pigotts along with Petroy Matthias age 53 of Bendals and Derrick Wade age 57 Of Villa.
They found one Blue Barrel, three Buckets containing Diesel, one Black and Grey Fuel Pump, and two Funnels.
The items were seized and transported to the Central Board of Health.
