A man more than tripled his prison sentence on Monday when he made a loud outburst right after being sentenced for battery.

On Monday, a 27-year-old man appeared before Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh for beating his ex- girlfriend and threatening her.

He was sentenced to two months imprisonment and was noticeably upset by the news.

While walking out of the dock, he was heard by all saying to the complainant “You happy now? You ruined my life!”

He was immediately told to backpedal and was held in contempt of court. Those few words landed him an addition six-month sentence.

The incident that initially put the man in court occurred on June 12 when he visited the woman’s home and they got into a heated argument about infidelity.

He slapped her with the back of his hand causing her to fall to the ground and then continued to beat her with his fist while she laid there.

Her screams caused a neighbor to come to her rescue and the men left the scene.

But later that day he returned and the woman attempted to leave in her vehicle but before she could do so he opened the car door, punched her in her head and threatened to kill her if he has any other man.

The victim reported the matter to the police who investigated and then charged the man on June 30.

The woman reported having difficulties hearing out of one ear as a result of the beating.

The defendant was sent to prison for the carnival season because of that ordeal.
