Police have reaped more success in ridding the streets of illegal firearms and ammunition. Two 9-millimeter pistols with matching rounds of ammunition were seized in separate operations between last night into this morning. Three men were arrested when a weapon was found in a vehicle in which they were traveling on Sir Sydney Walling Highway. A man was also arrested when a gun and ammunition were seized during an operation in Bendals.

These two latest successes take the number of illegal guns seized by the police this week, to three. Jahrubie Lee of Browne’s Avenue was fined XCD$25,000.00 when he pleaded guilty to gun and anmunition possession on Wednesday. He has until the end of October this year to pay, or he will spend a year in prison.

Police have ramped up their anti-crime operations and have promised greater visibility as carnival festivities draw closer.
