Three residents of Cashew Hill were arrested and taken into custody by the police, after they were found in possession of a firearm, cannabis, and several rounds of ammunition.

On Friday, 21 July, the police executed search warrants on two separate properties at Cashew Hill, and during the search of one home; one 9 mm automatic pistol with 17 rounds of 9 mm ammunition, four 12 Guage cartridges, twelve .38 rounds of ammunition, and a quantity of cannabis were found.

One male and female were arrested and taken into custody as a result.

Meanwhile, a search was conducted on another property occupied by a male, and during the search one 9 mm round of ammunition and a quantity of cannabis were found. He was arrested and taken into custody.

All the items were seized and taken to the police station. Further investgations are ongoing.

Earlier this week, Police Commissioner, Mr. Atlee Rodney made mention of the increased security measures that the police will be implementing to suppress the crime situation going into the carnival season and beyond.

The aim is to reduce any level of threat to life and property, as well as to ensure the safety and security of residents and visitors in the nation of Antigua and Barbuda.

Residents are further encouraged to give the police their full support and cooperation throughout the festive season.
