The committal hearing for Teshorn Lawrence, a 26-year-old resident of Fort Road, has been adjourned until October 17.

He was arrested and charged following a harrowing incident where he allegedly stormed into a woman’s home with a firearm.

Reports reveal a sequence of events that unfolded on June 6.

According to reports, the incident occurred when the complainant and her cousin, who had previously been in a relationship with Lawrence, visited a friend’s residence in Villa. It was reported that Lawrence and his ex-girlfriend’s relationship had ended in late May, and tensions between them remained high.

While at the Villa house, Lawrence reportedly attempted to contact his ex-girlfriend, but she opted to have the complainant answer the call. When the complainant conveyed that Lawrence’s former lover was at another man’s house, he allegedly became infuriated.

Acting swiftly, Lawrence forcefully entered the Villa residence, brandishing a firearm and pointing it at the complainant. Fearful for her safety, the complainant handed over her phone to Lawrence, who then proceeded to leave the premises after being asked to do so.

Understandably shaken by the terrifying ordeal, the complainant immediately reported the incident to the police. An investigation was launched, leading to Lawrence’s arrest on gun-related charges a few days later.

During his first hearing at the St. John’s Magistrate’s Court, Lawrence was remanded in custody, where he has been held since. The gravity of the charges against him has necessitated a committal hearing to determine if there is sufficient evidence to proceed with a trial.
