In partnership with Dr. Dwayne Thwaites and Associates, the Lion’s Club of Antigua is hosting the annual prostate cancer screening clinic at the Lion’s Den in St. John’s.
The Health and Social Services Chairperson of the Lion’s Club, Katrina Edwards, organized the event to address the issue of prostate cancer.
Men 40 years and older are encouraged to participate in the screening to detect prostate cancer early and improve the chances of successful treatment.
Last year, 884 men were screened, and this year’s attendance is expected to surpass 1000.
Participants are requested to contribute $30.00 towards covering the event’s expenses. Registration begins at 7:00 am and ends at 11:00 am, with screenings commencing at 8:00 am.
The annual prostate screening program was launched in 2007 to reduce prostate cancer-related deaths, which are particularly high in the Caribbean region, especially among black men.
