The Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre is dedicated to enhancing the quality of care it provides to the general public. To achieve this goal, the hospital is actively fine-tuning its Health Information System.
As part of this effort, the hospital is currently using the SIPS platform to track pregnancy data in Antigua and Barbuda. By doing so, the hospital can ensure that it is fully prepared to handle an influx of patients during peak times and reduce infant mortality rates.
Information Technology Manager Osbert Josiah notes that the hospital will soon be implementing a new Public Health Information System DHIS2, which will help reduce reliance on paper-based records and allow healthcare providers to report and track symptoms of particular diseases quickly and efficiently.
This new system is expected to be up and running within the next six months.
