The government has announced that the remaining nine percent of the 14 percent salary and wage increase agreed to by the government and their bargaining agents will be implemented from January 1, 2024.

This news will be welcomed by public sector workers who have been yearning for a salary increase for some time.

According to government sources, the new increases in salaries and wages will be reflected in the paychecks of monthly-paid workers when they receive their January salaries at the end of the month.

Meanwhile, weekly-paid workers will see the new wages reflected on their first payment following January 1, 2024.

It was previously speculated that the government would have phased in the remaining nine percent increase over a period of time.

However, the government has dispelled those suggestions, indicating that the full nine percent will be added to wages and salaries from January 1.

It is worth noting that the government had already paid a five percent increase to all public servants at the end of 2021, ahead of the negotiations process’s conclusion.
