Former Trinidadian Prime Minister Basdeo Panday

Mickela Panday, the daughter of former Trinidadian Prime Minister Basdeo Panday, has confirmed her father’s passing in a statement.

She announced that Panday, who served as the country’s Prime Minister from 1995 to 2001, passed away on January 1st.

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar, who served as Attorney General and Minister of Education under Panday, expressed her condolences on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley remembered Panday as someone who always believed in Trinidad and its potential.
