Tamorla Millette, a young and enterprising businesswoman with exceptional leadership qualities and business acumen, has been awarded the Youth Entrepreneur of the Year 2023 title.

The recognition was bestowed upon her as part of the Prime Minister’s Entrepreneurial Development Programme (EDP) award.

The Department of Youth Affairs recently organized a ceremony at Casa Palmadita where 16 young and talented individuals were presented with various awards, including Tamorla Millette.

The ceremony was held to honor the awardees as part of the annual National Youth Awards event coordinated by the Department.

Dr. Jrucilla Samuel, the head of the department, explained that the Prime Minister’s EDP aims to nurture and expand new and existing business ventures, thereby driving economic growth and development in Antigua and Barbuda.

The initiative focuses on revenue generation, job creation, and fostering innovation among citizens and residents. Tamorla Millette was nominated by a member of the community and was selected by the department after a thorough review of the nominations along with those of other nominees.

The selection criteria were based on several factors, including the sound footing of the business, the nominee’s character, and their display of social responsibility.

According to Dr. Samuel, Tamorla Millette’s journey to success began with the inception of Party Perfect Antigua in January 2018.

The venture, which specializes in event planning, decor, and catering services, quickly became a beacon of creativity and service excellence in the community.

Millette later founded Boss Ladies Connect, a networking group for female business owners, expanding her entrepreneurial vision. This initiative culminated in the groundbreaking Boss Ladies Brunch, creating a dynamic platform for female entrepreneurs to network, expand their clientele, and forge significant business partnerships.

During the ceremony, Caleb Gardiner, the Executive Secretary of the Entrepreneurial Development Programme, presented the award to Tamorla Millette.

He praised her contributions to fostering an entrepreneurial ecosystem in Antigua and Barbuda, stating that “The EDP was conceived to transform innovative ideas into sustainable businesses, and Millette exemplifies this vision with her remarkable achievements.”

Tamorla Millette expressed her gratitude and excitement upon receiving the award. She shared that “My love for uniting people through innovative and fun activities was the spark for my entrepreneurial journey. I am honored to be recognized for my efforts and will continue striving to inspire and empower young women in our nation and across the Caribbean.”
