Antigua and Barbuda, a twin-island Caribbean nation, has taken a significant step towards enhancing its bilateral relations with China by opening its Embassy in Beijing.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne presided over the inauguration ceremony on Tuesday, where he expressed his intention to appoint a permanent Ambassador to the Embassy soon.

The primary objective of the Prime Minister’s visit to China is to draw greater investment to Antigua and Barbuda and strengthen the trade linkages between the two nations.

During the ceremony, the Prime Minister applauded China’s instrumental role in promoting Antigua and Barbuda’s socio-economic development, describing it as “the most philanthropic country globally.”

The move received a warm welcome from Antiguan and Barbudan students studying in China, who enthusiastically expressed their support for the newly opened Embassy.
