A German cruise tourist, aged 57, was declared deceased at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre around midday today following an incident at Long Bay where he was found unresponsive.

The tourist and his wife arrived on a cruise ship earlier in the day and decided to visit Long Bay on a catamaran.

According to reports, his wife discovered him floating face-down in the water after consuming a few alcoholic beverages.

Immediate medical attention was provided, but unfortunately, his passing was later confirmed at the hospital. It is worth mentioning that he had been facing ongoing health challenges.

The exact cause of his death will be determined through a post-mortem examination.
