Head of the Prison, Colonel Trevor Pennyfeather, has confirmed to Antigua.News that Ricknaldo Isaac, an inmate at His Majesty’s Prison, died at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre earlier today.

“I want to express my condolences to the family…. The circumstances surrounding his death are quite unfortunate, and the matter will be under investigation…” Pennyfeather said while at the hospital.

Isaac, a prisoner who had previously been treated for an epileptic seizure, was hospitalized on April 28th after an alleged altercation with another inmate and a prison guard.

According to reports, the altercation began when a fellow inmate kicked a ball at Isaac, leading to a physical dispute.

A prison guard intervened to separate the inmates, but it was after this incident that Isaac had to be rushed back to the hospital.

Isaac’s father had previously expressed concern about his son’s health, stating that he needed surgery from an overseas expert or else he ran the risk of being paralyzed from the chest down.

However, the extent of Isaac’s injuries and their contribution to his death have not been officially disclosed.

It is still unclear what exactly happened during the altercation and how it ultimately led to Isaac’s tragic death.
