Tedson Knowles is currently on trial for the tragic death of Carissa Chandler, who was his common-law spouse.
The unfortunate incident unfolded in New Winthorpes on May 23, 2019, purportedly amid a heated domestic altercation between the couple.
On Friday, expert witness Dr. Petra Miller Nanton, told the court about her examination of Chandler’s body on June 13, 2019.
She vividly described the scene, painting a picture of Chandler’s body drenched in dried blood, devoid of clothing.
Her scrutiny revealed an entry wound located on the upper right side of Chandler’s chest, juxtaposed with an exit wound on her right upper back.

In her detailed analysis, Dr. Nanton expounded upon the characteristics of these wounds, indicating a striking resemblance to injuries typically associated with close-range firearm discharge.
She elaborated on the dimensions of the entry wound, measuring 9mm in outer diameter and 7mm internally, adorned with telltale signs such as burnt tissue.
The presence of burnt tissue around the entry wound, Dr. Nanton clarified, serves as a hallmark of close-range gunfire, attributed to the intense heat generated by the projectile upon impact.
Further dissecting the evidence, Dr. Nanton delineated the exit wound, characterized by a star-shaped or jagged configuration.
Based on the shape and size of the exit wound, Dr. Nanton confidently concluded that Chandler had been shot from the front.
Additionally, the doctor noted signs of hemorrhaging, coupled with pale organs.
These observations led Dr. Nanton to ascertain Chandler’s cause of death as exsanguination, stemming from the severe blood loss inflicted by the gunshot wound to her chest.
