Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney is taking a firm stance on the issue of police vehicle availability.
He said he would not accept any excuses from his officers regarding the lack of vehicles to respond to emergencies.
The public has been informed that the shortage of police vehicles has delayed police responses to various situations.
“This is one of the concerns that really disturb us because we have created a One-Call policy where this should not be an excuse. No member of the public should be told that”, Rodney said
The One Call policy is simple. If someone calls and a vehicle is not available, the officer should call another police station, and they should respond to the matter.
Rodney stated that it is highly improbable for all police vehicles to be deployed simultaneously. He advises individuals to seek redress if they encounter such a claim.
“If and when you ever have that kind of statement made to you, then you need to record the date, time, and the station that you called and report it to the police headquarters. We will handle it from there,” he said
“We have said over and over that there are enough police vehicles within the force that allows us to respond to incidents”, he said
