Inmate receives six-month sentence for prison escape

An inmate who escaped from the Coronation Drive penal facility last month has been sentenced to spend six months behind the same institution he escaped from.

Earlier this week, 39-year-old Brodah Wanlovv pleaded guilty to escaping lawful custody after his daring break-out on the evening of May 27.

The escape was discovered when a prison officer found that the eastern side of the holding area had been forcibly breached, and Wanlovv was missing.

Wanlovv was apprehended the next day around 3:00 p.m. in Fort Road. Initially on remand for larceny, he now faced charges for both his escape and the nearly $2000 in damage caused.

During court proceedings, Wanlovv requested leniency, citing a troubled state of mind and asking to be sent to rehab.

Despite his plea, the Magistrate sentenced him to six months of imprisonment.
