Smith with members of the UPP
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has officially welcomed former UPP member Anthony Smith to the government.
Browne observed Smith’s entry into politics several months ago and recognized his capacity to serve his people but said he was part of a toxic clan
Browne made these remarks when he addressed those gathered at the Government House to witness Smith’s official swearing-in as the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Lands, and Blue Economy.
“I always felt that he had the type of decency that we could have engaged him as an individual with whom we could have a relationship with him. I recognize he was operating in a toxic environment, an environment in which it would have stymied his growth and development, and that he has utilized the opportunity to transition into greener pastures so that he can better serve his constituents,” he said
Furthermore, Browne said that he and Smith have discussed the importance of serving people and that Smith understands this calling.
“I am fully aware he understands the importance of serving people and that there is no better calling. We are fully aligned in terms of our values of transparency, accountability, and good government,” Browne added.
He also wished Smith success in his new role as minister.
I could never ever trust Anthony Smith not even if he is reading from the Bible
