Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney
The Police Commissioner of Antigua and Barbuda has confirmed that an investigation is underway into a post on the popular social media site Facebook. The post was made over the weekend and suggested that Prime Minister Gaston Browne should be targeted by gun violence.
The post was in reaction to the assassination attempt on the life of former US President Donald Trump during a rally on Saturday night. Commissioner Rodney said the investigation was launched as soon as the post was made, and investigators now have an idea of who made the post and will be pursuing the matter.
Rodney stated that social media comments that incite violence are serious and constitute a criminal offense.
“That behavior is unacceptable. Making threats using electronic devices is a criminal offense. We have legislation that we can use to enforce the law,” the commissioner said.
He also appealed to the public to desist from sharing violent and threatening content online and stressed the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order.
“Violence is not acceptable, and it is not going to be a part of our culture. As a police force, we are going to use all the efforts we have to minimize any risks like that.”

That person should be arrested immediately after the post.
