Leader of the Opposition Jamal Pringle led a walkout of Opposition Members as Member of Parliament for All Saints West rose in Parliament to give a “Personal Explanation”.

On Monday MP Anthony Smith resigned from the United Progressive Party and was sworn in less than 24 hours later as a government minister.

The UPP Parliamentarians and MP for Barbuda, Trevor Walker, did not remain in the Chamber as Anthony Smith provided reasons for choosing to become an Independent Member of Parliament.

Member for St. Peters Asot Michael, who remained in the chamber, urged the Opposition Parliamentarians to leave.

Additionally, Michael was observed advising the UPP members to exit the chamber during the presentation of Minister Smith.

Surprisingly, Michael chose to stay in the chamber and, at times, was seen applauding MP Smith’s statements.

Eventually, he joined the Government Members in a standing ovation at the conclusion of MP Smith’s remarks.
