Regional: Police search for officer accused of raping teen relative

A police officer who allegedly confessed to sexually assaulting a female relative, who is a minor, is being sought by his colleagues in connection with the incident.

On July 11, a 15-year-old girl reported to the Child Protection Unit of the Northern Division that a male relative had sexual intercourse with her on several occasions at his house in east Trinidad.

The most recent incident is said to have taken place on July 4.

Police said the officer was confronted by the girl’s mother and he admitted to having sex with the child.

Police added that the officer allegedly threatened to harm himself, saying he was not going to jail.

Investigators said the officer allegedly packed some of his belongings and left the area.

His firearm was also said to be missing.

Police officers are searching for the man.
