Magistrates’ courts set to return to original location September 16th

The St John’s Magistrates’ Court and All Saints Magistrate’s Court will resume operations at their original location on High Street next week according to Justice Minister Sir Steadroy Benjamin

According to reports in NewsCo, Benjamin claimed that the transfer is scheduled for September 16th.

“I’ve just prepared the required orders for the courts to relocate from the Transport Board building at Herberts and ‘Knuckle Block’ back to the High Street location,” he said to the local publication

St John’s Magistrates’ Court has been situated at the Chinese-built community center in Knuckle Block, Gray’s Farm, for about five years, while the All Saints Magistrate’s Court was relocated to a building on the premises of the Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board in Herberts during the same period.

It had previously operated from the compound of the All Saints Police Station and held sittings in the High Street location several years ago.

The relocation follows extensive renovations of the High Street building, formerly the location of the High Court of Justice, prompted by threats of industrial action from court staff due to poor working conditions at the original site.

  1. Provide a map with actual location photo view for the public that’s not aware of the street names
