We are just a few days away from the start of week-long celebrations for this year’s independence and similar to other events the Independence church service will bring a new format for patrons.

Jermaine Lewis, Secretary of the Ecclesiastical Affairs group shared some details.

Initially, the service was to be held at the Spring Gardens Moravian Church but it has been moved to the St. Johns House of Restoration and Praise on Lauchland Benjamin Drive.

“We are going to infuse everyone. From babies to our elders, everyone is going to be involved. We are looking forward to highlighting the Antigua Barbuda Youth Symphony Orchestra (ABYSO). We are looking forward to highlighting one of our homegrown pastors who will be bringing the word to us this year,” Lewis said.

She also touched on a few performances that will be featured in the afternoon.

“There will be a surprise guest player. We have the SJPC Praise and Worship team. We have the Antigua Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) band,” she added.

It is scheduled for Sunday, October 27 starting at 4 pm.

Lewis is encouraging persons to attend and support all of the events.

The church service forms part of the 43rd Independence celebrations under the theme “From Community Collaboration to Global Gains”.
