On behalf of my colleague Members of Parliament, the Executive, and the Membership of the United Progressive Party, I extend sincere condolences to the family, friends and constituents of Asot Michael, late MP for St. Peter, on this sombre occasion.

Mr. Michael’s passing – and especially the manner in which he was taken – has left us deeply saddened and shocked; and we urge the authorities to diligently pursue justice for him and his loved ones.

We considered Mr. Michael a patriot; his love for his country was always evident; and we considered him a humanitarian, as his care and concern for the people of his constituency were never in doubt.

As colleagues on the Opposition Bench, we will miss his spirited and informed presentations and his fearlessness during debate, and as fellow citizens we mourn the loss of his future contributions to the building of our Nation.

May his legacy of service always be honoured; may his soul rest in peace; and may his family find comfort in his memory.

Hon. Jamale Pringle

Leader of the Opposition
