The third session of the current parliament in Antigua and Barbuda begins with the ceremonial Throne Speech delivered by the Governor General.

This speech will outline the government’s fiscal and legislative priorities for the upcoming year, focusing on development in the hotel sector and acknowledging record gains in tourism.

The upcoming year will involve a busy legislative agenda that includes issues related to mental health and elderly care.

Changes in the parliamentary structure include a new Speaker of the House, a new Majority Leader in the Senate, and the absence of Asot Michael, the sole independent member, due to his recent passing.

The Governor General will also inspect a guard of honor before the speech.
