Gov’t Ministries Locked Out Over $8M in Unpaid Rent to Ryan Group

The building on Old Parham owned by Ryan Group

Employees from three government agencies were sent home today after they could not enter their workplace, a government-rented building.

When staff reported for duty, they found the facility, owned by the Ryan Group of Companies, secured with a large padlock on the gates.

“We have tried to discuss this with government officials over the years and have not been successful to even meet.  We are not evicting the tenants but we need a sit down with officials to plot the way forward,” Paul Ryan told Antigua.news.

According to Ryan, the access denial stems from the government’s unpaid rent of more than $8M, which has led to the current predicament for those working within the premises.

This building is critical, as it houses the Bureau of Standards, the Ministry of Works Project Implementation Unit, and various Survey Departments.

  5. Gaston, the man responsible for the country’s finances, please pay Mr Ryan the rent the government owes. Mr Ryan needs to keep his building’s maintenance up to good standards. Despite all the government’s revenues, it still can’t pay its rent. It’s a shame.
