Two young men were arrested last weekend for possessing marijuana, sparking a legal battle as their attorneys prepare to argue for the dismissal of the charges.

The lawyers are seeking complete disclosure from the prosecution regarding the circumstances of their clients’ arrest.
One lawyer has highlighted that his client, a member of the Nyabinghi movement, uses cannabis as a sacrament, suggesting that the charges may not be warranted.

The young man was allegedly transporting the marijuana as part of the recent Cannabis Festival, which featured a unique allowance for public consumption during designated times.

Regis Burton, CEO of the Medicinal Cannabis Authority (MCA), explained in a prior interview that this year’s festival was particularly notable due to special permissions granted for certain religious and ceremonial activities involving cannabis.

Normally, public smoking of cannabis is illegal; however, with the approval of Attorney General Sir Steadroy Benjamin, the festival created a space for these practices.

This context may play a critical role in the defense as the legal proceedings unfold.

    • haha. TZen, their thoughts and priorities are different from ours. They think so differently. A family is mourning the death of their children and is yet to receive answers or have a light shed on the situation. So many missing persons, why no lawyer ever step in and assist the case? yet they wanna assist people who are charged for weed. oh boii, the system we live in
