A Clarehall man and his Hatton counterpart appeared before the courts yesterday following the discovery of an illegal firearm and ammunition during a weekend incident in Sutherlands.

Otinco Thomas and Roan Hector stood before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel on Tuesday to answer charges relating to their alleged possession of a black Taurus 9mm pistol and ten rounds of compatible ammunition on April 27.

Hector acknowledged culpability by entering guilty pleas to both charges, while Thomas maintained his innocence with not guilty pleas.

Prosecutors expressed their determination to pursue the case against Thomas through trial.

Magistrate Emanuel denied bail for both men during Tuesday’s session.

The matter has been set for trial on August 27.
