Work on the new public cemetery in Tomlinsons is progressing, with Prime Minister Gaston Browne announcing a target opening date of June. During a recent Parliament session, PM Browne provided an update on the long-awaited project.

“We hope to open the chapel later this year. While I don’t have the precise timeline, I can confirm that we are aiming to commence operations in June,” he stated.

The opening of the Tranquillity Cemetery has faced several delays, but its completion is expected to alleviate the ongoing pressure at the St. Johns Public Cemetery. The new facility will feature uniform and tidy graves along with a non-denominational chapel, offering a peaceful resting place for the community.

As the project nears completion, residents can look forward to a dedicated space designed to honor and remember loved ones.

  2. What will it take this incompetent government to complete the cemetery? The fencing was completed two years ago, and the roadways through the cemetery’s ground were also cut a couple of years back. Constructing an administration and chapel building for the cemetery should not be the delay from starting to bury people.
We who are living on the north side of the island still can’t get a place to bury our loved ones. For example, if you live in Coolidge and the surrounding areas and are not churchgoers. When you die, you will be buried in Valley Community Cemetery round South.
