The cannabis case against Trinidadian national Andre Solomon was further adjourned until June 30 when he appeared before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel yesterday.

His lawyer, Andrew O’Kola, was absent from the proceedings.

Solomon, 44, is facing multiple cannabis-related charges stemming from police discoveries of plants and processed marijuana at several properties throughout April and May.

The matter falls under District B jurisdiction and was previously transferred to Magistrate Emanuel’s court from Magistrate Dexter Wason, who had initially granted Solomon bail.

Police investigations began on April 30 when law enforcement executed simultaneous search warrants at Solomon’s residences on Pares Main Road and in Parham. The raid yielded 191.9 grams of cannabis, two-and-a-quarter pounds of processed marijuana, and 790 cannabis plants, resulting in charges of unlawful possession and cultivation.

A week later, on May 7, officers conducted an additional search at Solomon’s Hodges Bay property, where they discovered a further four-and-a-half pounds of cannabis, leading to additional charges.

Solomon was granted bail in the amount of $50,000 with a $5,000 cash component. As part of his bail conditions, Solomon, who is in the country on a visitor’s permit valid until July, must report to St. John’s police station twice weekly on Mondays and Saturdays.

He is also required to check in with Immigration authorities every Wednesday.
