Hurricane Shutters Project Relaunches as 2025 Season Begins | Public Can Purchase Sheets (Caribbeanstromshutters.com)

Hurricane season 2025 is now underway and while disaster-preparedness governed groups are putting things in order in the case of a storm, Cabinet and the Department of Environment (DoE) is now ensuring that the most vulnerable persons are ready too.

The Hurricane Shutters project will now recommence and provide over 1000 sheets of hurricane shutters for the most vulnerable persons in society.

The newly arrived polycarbonate sheets are designed to offer superior protection during extreme weather events, making them a valuable addition to homes and businesses in hurricane-prone regions.

The polycarbonate sheets are available for sale at a 75% discount $62.50 per sheet.  Each sheet has a capacity of producing 3-4 shutters.

Regarding distribution, a comprehensive plan will be derived.

“The Cabinet has indicated that the Ministry of Works, the Ministry of Urban and Renewal, will work along closely with the Department of the Environment in putting together a program in terms of its distribution.

“When these items were procured by the Department of the Environment, they were procured through the Department putting forward a proposal, a comprehensive proposal on why these items are needed, how these items would be distributed and to whom these items will be distributed and so there are policy documents that will guide the distribution of these items,” Cabinet Spokesperson Maurice Merchant explained.

The project was launched last year through the DoE’s Sustainable Island Resource Framework (SIRF) Fund and prepares residents for the increasing frequency of hurricanes by providing these technologies to the private sector at reduced costs.

  1. Is this not the company owned by the PM? Asking for a friend. So the MOE will source the shutters from there. Just being inquisitive.

Not actually wishing it on you but often we lose what we abuse. Thank God for the gift of sight so that we can peep our way into a bright, healthy and productive future. Time to rise above the mire!

      • So a distribution plan is already in place so why not implement it? Why the wait since funds were allocated/received based in part on that plan so please miss me with the hurry up and wait nonsense. If you weren’t going to follow that plan then why did you write it to begin with? Anyway, hurricane season is already underway so get this material distributed ASAP is my opinion.

  6. So when and where can we purchase?
