Court Shows Leniency to Young Shoplifters
The court showed leniency to two young women from Cassada Gardens who were arrested for shoplifting at Epicurean Supermarket on Friars Hill Road, discharging them after they pleaded guilty and apologized.
The defendants, ages 22 and 19, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Dexter Wason on Monday, June 23, facing larceny charges stemming from an incident that took place around 9:45 pm on Thursday, June 19.
The items included a sandwich maker, calculator and items to make sandwiches.
The supermarket’s security supervisor had reported that the pair left the store without paying for grocery items. A uniformed police officer stationed at the location stopped the suspects near the exit, where one woman acknowledged having unpaid merchandise in her possession when confronted.
During court proceedings, the 22-year-old explained that she had recently begun working at a gas station and needed the items, while the 19-year-old stated she had broken her mother’s sandwich maker and planned to replace it.
I wonder if two MALE thieves aged 19 and 22 respectively would have received similar leniency.
Give me a damn break. No excuse
I don’t get it. Both of their excuses lack justification for the crime commited.
from the moment God made woman ……
